WiFi MultiCom

WiFi MultiCom

Switching, measuring and data transmission - One device for everything

The WiFi MultiCOM is an micro processor controlled module for simple connection of different serial interfaces, such as RS232, RS422 or RS485, to the wireless WiFi 802.11b standard. By using an external antenna the range of the wireless connection can reach up to 600 metres.

The RS422 and RS485 connections are realised via a detachable connector strip. The RS232 interface is presented as a standard 9 pole sub-D plug.

Apart from the serial interfaces the WiFi MultiCom has additionally one digital input, one digital output and an analogue input which are easily interrogated or switched using Telnet commands or via the web interface.

The WiFi MultiCOM can be operated in infrastructure (point to multiple point) or in ad-hoc mode (point to point). The wireless radio link is safeguarded from unauthorised third party access by means of WEP64 /128 or WPA encryption.

The module is programmed with the accompanied software dependant on requirements either via a virtual COM port or in ad-hoc mode.

The WiFi MultiCom can be used for different applications e.g.:
  • Serial point to point connection (RS232, RS422 or RS485)
  • Wireless RS232 / TCP/IP Bridge
  • Wireless diagnostics and programming connections
  • Potential separation between interfaces
  • Controlling an diagnostics over three I/Os
